No, i wouldnt say so. I mean its a childrens show, dont think they would make it like that. Yeh i agree men can be close to their friends, even if they are men. Plus hes a sponge.:P
sponge bob looks gay in the episode were squidward has to get a band together and then squidward goes to the gig and sponge bob is standing there bending his knees wagaling his tong and moving his hands back and forward so i think that he is pritty gay and most people that i know think that the programme was started so that sponge bob could be a gay idle. :} :O ;D ;} ;o

And longshot1993, the creator of Spongebob made that scene to get people to laugh, dancing like that could be seen as gay in both ways.
