Calm down. The group is about the WC, but also words it so that it ties into the war. And if you didn't know, there isn't a UK football team..

I am utterly confused right now. What is the topic even currently about besides the interesting topic about "ball games"?

I think this thread should go in the WEPR forum right now...

But my opinion on ball games are quite whimsical (I have always'd wanted to use that word, but I felt like I used it in the wrong place). My favorite ball game would have to be basketball or ping pong.

True. Although in WW2 they were very much bit players. They had no real armed forces to speak of after 1942 and the desert campaigns. The invasion of Italy was really more of an invasion of a German principality, since there were so few Italian soldiers actually left. So the metaphor still works. Kind of.

I like both American football and soccer. But something hat everyone can agree on, both sports have crazy fans.
