Well I guess the title says it all, I was just wondering who ya'll thought were the most active 'forumers' in this part of the AG forum. Opinions, that what this Forum is going to be, pure opinions, and yes you can say 'Me'.
Actually, it is more of a "You are in the friend zone and haven't moved on to the partner zone". I think the next zone does include friends too, like the outer zone... "I know you zone" would be included in the friend zone automatically. A bit like... intimate sphere when it comes to personal space.
I never understood that whole "friend zone" concept. Why is it potential partners can't be your friend? O.o
Often it's expressed the other way around, that potential partners (by which one means sexual partners) shouldn't be too close a friend, otherwise the "window of opportunity" passes and you become "zoned". Why? The original theory went something like when you're too familiar with somebody without having had sexual relations, the notion of sexual relations becomes awkward. I would actually say this applies to quite a few of my close friends, which serves as a counter-example to the other generalisation: "guys and girls can't just be friends."
Biggest exception to this rule I know is on Seinfeld, lol. "You know, we get along so well that I think the only reason we haven't fooled around yet is because we've never had that awkward pause in the conversation." *awkward pause ensues*

That's kinda win.
I still don't really get how the zone thing works. I mean, I can read what you and others are saying about it and understand it. I just don't get it. >_>;
I'm also lost but I think it means if you get to close with your sexual partner and become "friends" with him/her the idea of being in a sexual relationship with him/her becomes awkward because you know the person to well. I didn't understand the exception or the "window of opportunity" part.

Not quite, it's more "if you get a too close friendship with someone, the idea of sex with that person becomes awkward".
For me, "zoning" is somewhat necessary because I have to balance professional considerations along with everything else. It's very awkward for one's work life if you're good friends with a colleague and then all of a sudden you horrendously disrupt the status quo by sleeping with them. With non-colleagues and people who won't interact with my colleagues and therefore not potentially spread rumours about my sex life to colleagues... not such a big issue!
Of course it doesn't have to be this way, you could just do whatever you want however you want :P

Less "friend" and more "work-related" zone here, is it?
The way I see it, most relationships in our younger years, especially those in our high school era don't last long at all. Say two people who are best friends decide to go out, if that relationship ends badly there is a very good chance the two will no longer remain friends. So, why risk it?
It's not as if ^ is the norm though. I have friends who've dated previously and are great friends now, so it depends on the person. :s

Thats really true, thats kinda happening a the mo with my friend (not with me obviously). Shes going out with this guy who was our friend (the rest of hate him now) and its really awkward if any of her other friends try to talk to him. Hes very clingy and protective its seriously pissing me off.
In my opinion, accepting the friend zone is the best thing you can do. Pining over one person for so long, someone in the friend zone, puts the blinders on and makes you miss other opportunities. Not every teenage romance is forever. In fact, few are and you have to expect that.
